Tatweer opens central control facility
Manama, November 3, 2011
Bahrain's Energy Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza has opened Tatweer Petroleum's new interim central control facility, located at Jebel Office in the Bahrain field near well no 1.
The opening ceremony was attended by Tatweer chief executive officer Dr Ed Hanley, deputy chief executive officer Adel Khalil Almoayyed and senior management officials.
The new facility will facilitate the management of the Bahrain Oil Field operations as Tatweer expands the oil and gas production and injection facilities.
This is the first step in moving all associated operations within the oil and gas production and the injection of water and steam to a central location where the entire team can confer and co-ordinate operational management on a daily basis.
The central control room will initially provide 24-hour monitoring of all production and injection wells in the field, critical operational aspects of all facilities including tank batteries, well manifolds, injection facilities, compression and electrical distribution.
The monitoring of all field operations will help in identifying, minimising and eliminating problems at the facilities, and facilitates quicker response in the event of emergency, all resulting in a much more efficient organisation and potentially a more productive operation.
'The commissioning of this interim central control facility is the beginning of a new phase of operation in the Bahrain Field and we are proud to see Tatweer Petroleum on the leading edge of this technology and bringing an increased level of monitoring and automation to this operation,' Dr Mirza said.
'We are very excited to announce the completion of this new facility which will help us monitor all field operations 24/7. Eventually this facility will be moved to a future permanent facility which will also include the non-associated gas operations currently located in the central gas dehydration facility,' Dr Hanley said. – TradeArabia News Service
