Operational efficiency 'key to Alba success'

Manama, January 23, 2011

Aluminium Bahrain's (Alba) focus on operational efficiency and global competitiveness have brought encouraging results in both productivity and profitability, said the company's chief executive, Laurent Schmitt.

Schmitt was giving a presentation at the 'Business Leadership Talk' organised by the Bahrain Management Society at the Crowne Plaza Hotel recently.

“The past two years have been extremely challenging for the aluminium industry, but for Alba, it provided an opportunity to respond with a clear action plan to boost cost reduction, increase savings, strengthen operational efficiency, and initiate a cycle of continuous improvement programmes in the plant’s overall operations,' he observed.

The CEO highlighted Alba’s success in meeting challenges facing the industry through processes and programmes that boost savings, reduce costs, strengthen operational efficiency and enhance the company’s competitive edge.

'Our success in meeting some of these goals have resulted in encouraging results for our productivity and profitability. This has been made largely possible through the commitment of our employees who share this vision, and determination to raise Alba’s profile regionally and internationally,' he noted.

The Bahrain Management Society event was attended by senior management personnel from some of Bahrain’s leading companies covering both the manufacturing and service industries.

The society was established as a non-profit society in 1995, plays an important role in undertaking research in management, production of specialised publications, and adding value to the business community through productive management.-TradeArabia News Service
