Summit discusses future of logistics industry
Dubai, May 24, 2010
The future of logistics and transport industry, and the growing importance of a customer-focused approach driven by innovation, were the key topics of discussion at the conference organised by Aramex, a leading logistics solutions provider, in Dubai.
The 28th Annual Leaders Conference was held in line with its commitment to nurturing leadership and entrepreneurial skills, Aramex said in a statement.
The three-day conference brought together 280 members of Aramex’s global management team, who discussed the company’s growth strategy for 2010 and the lessons learned from the financial downturn last year.
As the worldwide economy continues to show positive signs of recovery, and Aramex remains on a financial and operational growth track, this annual gathering served as a platform for global team leaders to share their specific experiences and collectively identify future expansion opportunities, it said.
A key focus of discussion this year was the enhancing of customer service through further development of the technology infrastructure and leveraging of existing capabilities.
The participants also discussed the importance of reinforcing the company’s ongoing sustainability programs and proactively identifying new areas for community development and environmental initiatives.
“This annual event is very important to Aramex, and provides a platform for leaders across our global network to discuss strategic issues and brainstorm ideas for the future,” said Iyad Kamal, chief operating officer, Aramex.
“It also presents an opportunity to hear from business leaders and entrepreneurs on key industry trends, such as e-Commece, which have a direct impact on the way we do business and, more importantly, what our customers expect from Aramex,” he added.
The theme of the conference, “Emerging Aramex,' reflected the company’s remarkable ability to thrive amidst the economic turmoil of last year, in which it not only achieved excellent financial results and expanded its reach in emerging markets, but also continued to enhance customer experience, maintained its employee base, and further invested in community development—making 2009 one of Aramex’s best-performing years.
“This annual event is a great educational experience for all of us,” said Jaffar Ali, regional operations manager at Aramex’s office in Dubai, UAE.
“In fact, the Annual Leaders Conference is just one part of our continuous learning experience at Aramex, where we have the opportunity to share new ideas and best practices with our colleagues from across the world,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
