GAC wins BSM ship spares logistics deal

Dubai, May 5, 2009

Leading ship management company Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has appointed GAC Marine Logistics (GML) as one of its key partners to handle marine spares logistics.

Under the contract, GML has been awarded the logistics services to and from Korea and the Middle East for delivery to BSM’s vessels trading around the world.

The new appointment follows BSM’s objective to streamline their logistics activities after its creation in 2008 by combining four ship management organisations already owned by the Schulte Group into one integrated company.

“We wanted a competitive, quality, service-minded partner capable of providing high and efficient service levels to our customers in a time crucial environment,” Dr. Ruanthi De Silva, BSM Group director – Supply Chain Management.

“What we found in GML, with its integrated expertise in ship agency, marine and offshore support as well as logistics capabilities fits the bill perfectly.”

“With GML’s supply chain management expertise, BSM will see better inventory control, reduced costs, improved coordination and better liaison with suppliers,” added  Chris Steibelt, managing director, GAC Marine Logistics.-TradeArabia News Service
