RTA joins Dubai e-raffle promotion

Dubai, September 27, 2008

Dubai eGovernment has said that the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has joined its electronic raffle promotion called 'Best Online Customer' launched recently.

Customers using the Dubai eGovernment portal to conduct ePayment transactions from August 1 to October 22, 2008, will automatically be included in the raffle, with random draws to select winners.

'With the Roads & Transport Authority joining this raffle promo, we are certain to see a major increase in the number of participants in this contest. With several attractive prizes to be won each day, we believe that this contest will go a long way in maximizing the adoption of electronic services in Dubai, which is the overriding goal for Dubai eGovernment,' said Salem Al Shair, eServices director, Dubai eGovernment.

Abdulla Al Madani, director of IT at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said: 'The RTA is pleased to join this raffle promotion and we believe this promo could serve as an added incentive for Dubai's residents to use the range of highly efficient electronic services that are currently available, especially those services that leverage Dubai eGovernment's secure and efficient ePayment platform.'

'The RTA services included in the promotion are Salik Recharge, Commercial Vehicles Licensing and Right of Way services. Winners of the RTA raffles will receive a three-month validity parking card,' added Al Madani.

'Besides the RTA, other government departments taking part in the promotion include Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

'Throughout the duration of the contest, customers have a chance to win a range of exciting prizes including daily cash prizes worth Dh50,000 ($13,600) daily, Dubai city tours, desert safaris, three nights stay in 5-star hotels in Dubai, electronic and entertainment devices, and more,' said Al Shair.

Participating departments have been required to do two months of pre-event marketing promotion to create awareness and remind customers to keep their transaction numbers. Each department has picked ePayment services to include in the promo and is conducting its own separate raffle to determine a daily winner.

Dubai eGovernment will support the departments by displaying daily results generated via an online draw application on a plasma screen to be placed at the Dubai eGovernment stand at Gitex 2008 in Hall 8 in Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. - TradeArabia News Service
