H Dubai to hone Dubai Autism Center students’ career skills

DUBAI, July 8, 2024

The H Dubai said its new developments in its partnership with the Dubai Autism Center (DAC) will provide vocational training programme for students on the spectrum that is designed to equip students with essential skills and real-world experience.

The hotel’s newest venture also aims at enhancing the students’ career prospects and personal development.

Having previously hosted an array of events such as the celebration of Autism Awareness Month in April, craft workshops, and fundraisers, The H Dubai is the first hotel in Dubai to earn the Certified Autism Center designation.

The Dubai Autism Center was established in 2001 by a decree of the Ruler of Dubai as the first Emirati non-profit organisation in the UAE that aims to provide integrated consulting, educational, and specialised therapeutic services in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Through holistic education and therapeutic programmes, the centre works to ensure young people integrate into the community and live fulfilling lives. Dubai Autism Centre has become a beacon of hope for many children and their families, opening a world of new opportunities for young people on the spectrum.

The H Dubai hotel, which provides an optimal environment for its newest trainees to flourish, is known for its ongoing work with Dubai Autism Center.

With the help of The H Dubai team and Dubai Autism Center teachers, the training programme provides students with a level playing field to acquire key skills and experience.

The programme, which ran from May 21 to July 3, was designed to ensure a comprehensive learning experience. During the initial phase (May 21 to June 17), the students received training from The H Dubai team at Dubai Autism Center under the guidance of teachers from the centre.

From June 18 to July 3, the students joined the hotel for hands-on experience in a professional setting, mentored by their Dubai Autism Center teachers and behaviour specialists.

This blended approach ensures that the students receive consistent support and guidance in a comfortable environment, a statement said.

Aya Salem Hafid and Daniel Fahmy are the two incredibly talented students who participated in this programme. Aya, who enjoys colouring, arts and crafts, and swimming, trained in the F&B department. Her tasks will include greeting guests, table setup, making coffees, and guest farewells, said the H Dubai Hotel in a statement.

Daniel, who loves conversations, playing bass, listening to classical music, and cooking, was trained in the Front Office department. Each student will be paired with a dedicated mentor from The H Dubai team who will provide ongoing guidance and support throughout the duration of their training, it added.

Following the training at the centre and the hotel, under the guidance of the DAC teachers, the students will be able to independently undertake summer internships at the hotel.

This phase of the initiative aims to provide the students with a practical, immersive experience that prepares them for future employment opportunities, the hotel said. – TradeArabia News Service
