in the healthcare and pharma sector

Boehringer Ingelheim names Mideast head

DUBAI, October 5, 2016

Boehringer Ingelheim, a leading German pharmaceutical company, has appointed Enrique Manzoni as its country managing director for the region.

Manzoni will lead the overall operations in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region based in Dubai, UAE.

In his new role, Manzoni will oversee the company’s growth and partnership initiatives in various areas across the region, along with driving a structured approach for the human pharma, consumer healthcare and animal health business activities.

His strategic skillset will play a key role in strengthening and driving Boehringer Ingelheim’s operations in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region, , said a statement from the company.

Positioning the company for future growth, he brings more than four decades of solid experience to the region across the corporate, finance, technology, and operations practice areas, it added.

Prior to joining the region, Manzoni managed the company’s regional business volume of €700 million ($785.2 million) in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden, in addition to being accountable for four manufacturing facilities, said a statement.

With a proven history of overachieving financial goals, and expanding the company’s reach, Manzoni has been with Boehringer Ingelheim for more than 28 years, working in various leadership capacities, running various investment portfolios for the company and developing successful operating business models.

The pharmaceutical market in the region has witnessed considerable progress over the years due to favourable demographic and economic factors, and increased government expenditure for healthcare. The company is well positioned for growth and development across the various markets it operates in, it said.

On his appointment, Manzoni said: “This is an exciting time for me to be in the region, with the ongoing growth and huge nascent potential in the healthcare and pharma sector.”

“At the same time, regional governments are working towards developing a robust infrastructure and implementing policies to address healthcare concerns towards a better health for their nations,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
