DHA displays smart services at Gitex

DUBAI, October 19, 2015

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) displayed several new apps and self-check kiosks at the Gitex Technology Week, a major IT show, that opened yesterday (October 18) in Dubai, UAE.

DHA’s smart services which included the Tifli (my baby) app for pregnant women, Tashkhees app, which provides medical articles and medical information, smart mazad app, which is a smart bidding app for companies that want to participate in the bidding process to provide services to the DHA.

Amani Al Jassmi, director of Information at the DHA, said: “DHA’s smart health initiatives are aligned with the Dubai smart government approach to transform Dubai into a smart city so that government organizations in Dubai provide their customers with smart services that are convenient and can be accessed through various kinds of technology.”

Al Jassmi said that the use of smart healthcare kiosks for self-checks and its latest medical applications will directly benefit the UAE community.

The apps, inspired by Windows 8, are compatible with all platforms — Apple iOS, Google Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile, among others. The apps are free-of-cost and will be available by the end of November.


The DHA also displayed the Dubai RoboDoc, which is the latest in telemedicine and helps serve patients in remote areas.

Tifli (my baby) app:

The Tifli (my baby) app provides information for pregnant women from preconception until the baby is two years. App users can reschedule or cancel a doctor’s appointment, they have access to videos and articles on best practices during different stages of pregnancy, they can track their baby’s growth and weekly milestones, they can monitor their labour pain and understand their contractions better so as to know when they should visit a hospital. They can also use the app to make an emergency call to their husband or family member they register.

App users will also have information about breastfeeding, ways to overcome breastfeeding difficulties, breastfeeding techniques and best nutritional practices.

Tashkhees app:  This app provides articles with useful medical information and is a means to empower the community through health education that will help them to adhere to healthier lifestyles so that we can reduce the burden of non-communicable lifestyle diseases.

Smart Mazad app: It is a smart bidding app for individuals companies that want to participate in the bidding process to provide services to the DHA. The aim of the app is to make the process of health investment smart and convenient.

Dubai  RoboDoc:  The DHA launched the DubaiRoboDoc which is a robot that uses telemedicine to provide distance healthcare management. This is the first time this technology is being used in Dubai and the Middle-East.

The DubaiRoboDoc is a robot that is able to move to different areas within a facility and has features such as cameras, microphones and speakers that allow physicians and patients to see and talk to each other. – TradeArabia News Service
