Medeor hosts free screening to combat heart diseases
ABU DHABI, September 18, 2015
Medeor 24x7 Hospital Abu Dhabi has organised free screenings for residents of the emirate to combat cardiovascular diseases, which is the number one killer in the UAE.
Accounting for one in four deaths in the UAE every year, cardiovascular diseases include coronary artery disease, stroke, hypertension, heart failure, cardiomyopathy and cardiac tachyarrhythmia.
During the three-day initiative, which will conclude tomorrow (September 19), the hospital's booth at Marina Mall and Mushref Mall is providing free screening for height, weight, body mass index, (BMI), random blood sugar (RBS) and cholesterol.
Those who visit the booths will also have the opportunity to take part in the quiz and win interesting prizes.
Dr Maher Eter, head of clinical excellence at the hospital, said: “A majority of deaths, caused by cardiovascular diseases, in the UAE could be prevented with the right nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.
"Medeor 24x7 Hospital Abu Dhabi provides guests with holistic treatment plans, ensuring that they are educated about their dietary needs, lifestyle habits and general heart health.”
“It has been found that heart attacks strike 20 years earlier, on average, in the UAE. This is mainly due to the high prevalence of smoking, obesity and a lack of exercise. Medeor 24x7 Hospital Abu Dhabi partners with its guests to help create preventative plans against each of these risk factors," said Dr Eter.
"That is why we always recommend regular preventive checkup, and advise our guests to keep a track of their numbers such as BMI, waist circumference, blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol." - TradeArabia News Service
