Summit puts spotlight on green parking technology

DUBAI, June 11, 2015

GreenParking, an innovative company leading the way in sustainable car park management, presented a full array of eco-friendly technologies that can be used in car parks to reduce pollution and environmental impact at key summit in Dubai, UAE.

The most noticed green technology showcased was GreenParking’s EV charging station, which was first introduced this year as part of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's (Dewa) initiative for a greener Dubai.

“With the UAE leaders' vision in creating a smarter and greener environment in the region, considering solutions that can make a building more eco-friendly has become essential for developers and construction experts. GreenParking’s fully integrated and innovative approach is the right answer concerning car parks.” said Sam Alawiye, the company's founder and managing director, while speaking at the Middle East Parking Summit.

The other green solutions highlighted were the Parkchip technology –where customers use a chip instead of paper tickets, thus saving trees by saving paper- and the fully integrated LED lighting system – hence allowing car park operators to modify the intensity of lighting in different areas of the car park depending on traffic, which can reduce electricity consumption by up to 65 per cent.

"We believe that more and more electric vehicles will be introduced in the UAE as the number of EV-friendly initiatives grow. By the end of this year, 100 charging stations will have been installed all over Dubai," stated Alawiye.

"Apart from contributing to the installation of these stations, we will also be offering free parking space and free charging for electric vehicles in some of our car parks. This is only the beginning but this trend will continue to grow and it is essential for GreenParking to be a part of it from its inception," he added.

Two other environmental-friendly technologies that were presented were the revolutionary solar powered Flinkpark, the individual parking bay reservation unit, and GreenParking’s single space parking guidance system.-TradeArabia News Service
