Sandstorm warning issued for Bahrain

MANAMA, April 13, 2015

A sandstorm warning has been issued for Bahrain.

It is expected to hit early today (April 13) and visibility is expected to drop to less than 1,000 metres, according to the Meteorological Directorate at the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

In a statement it warned members of the public and seafarers to beware of north-westerly winds of up to 28 knots, saying a thick dust haze was expected to last for two days with rising sand in some places.

The warning comes after one of the worst sandstorms in recent memory enveloped Gulf countries on April 1, covering Bahrain and neighbouring countries with sand and severely disrupting flights. - TradeArabia News Service
