Lifecare Hospital Musaffah opens cardiac cath lab
ABU DHABI, March 11, 2015
Lifecare Hospital Musaffah, VPS Healthcare Group’s multi specialty facility servicing Abu Dhabi’s busy industrial area Musaffah, has opened its advanced cardiac catheterisation laboratory.
The facility, which is the first in Musaffah, was inaugurated by Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, founder and managing director, VPS Healthcare.
The latest addition to Lifecare Hospital Musaffah’s cardiology department, the cath lab hosts the Bi-Plane cardiac catheterisation machine, a diagnostic imaging device for visualising the arteries and chambers of the heart and treating any stenosis or abnormality, with a minimally invasive procedure.
Nearly 30 per cent of youth in the UAE are vulnerable to heart diseases because of bad eating habits, high blood pressure, obesity and high rates of diabetes, according to a study of the Emirates Cardiac Society (ECS).
“VPS Healthcare Group is committed to improving the quality of life of the community in the UAE through the prevention and treatment of diseases. Given the high incidence of heart diseases, it was imperative to make available state-of-the-art and yet affordable facilities in an area such as Musaffah. We hope the centre will help add many years to lives,” said Dr Vayalil.
With the opening of the cardiac cath lab, Lifecare Hospital Musaffah will offer 24-hour planned and emergency angioplasty intervention to patients who suffer from a heart attack.
Dr Khaled Galal, consultant interventional cardiologist, said: “We are exceptionally proud to have launched the Cardiology cath lab at Lifecare Hospital Musaffah, which will allow us to better serve our patients suffering from heart diseases. The facility will help in early detection and management, which is surely going to contribute in raising the standards of delivery.”
The department’s services will include left and right heart catheterisation, diagnostic coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty by ballooning and stent implantation with the most advanced technology including bioabsorbable stents, primary angioplasty with clot aspiration, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) insertion, insertion of temporary pacemaker, pericardiocentesis in addition to stress ECG and treadmill test, echocardiography, 24-hour holter, and blood pressure (BP) monitoring. - TradeArabia News Service
