Epson to showcase vascular imaging smart glasses
Dubai, January 26, 2014
Epson will showcase Moverio smart glasses, which has been used by Evena Medical to create ‘Eyes-On Glasses,’ a wearable vascular imaging system, at the Arab Health exhibition, which will begin tomorrow (January 27) in Dubai.
Moverio is a wearable, binocular Android-based mobile content viewing device that offers the ability to view a variety of content through transparent lenses.
The Evena Eyes-on Glasses system is a patented design which enables nurses to see ‘through’ a patient’s skin to the vasculature beneath.
It includes digital storage to enable easy verification and documentation of vein patency, and telemedicine capability to share images and clinical informatics remotely.
Frank Ball, president and CEO, Evena Medical, said: “Epson’s Moverio technology platform and it’s unique see-through capability has enabled us to realise our Evena Eyes-On Glasses, the first vein detection device to deliver clear, anatomically accurate, real-time imaging in a wearable, easy-to-use, hands-free, cart-free system.”
Valerie Riffaud-Cangelosi, senior manager at Epson Europe, said: “Through the combined ability of our wearable technology platform and the accomplishment of the Evena team, we have pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved in healthcare technology. The result is a solution that improves both patient comfort and nursing efficiency and we look forward to continuing to work with Evena.” - TradeArabia News Service
