Hatta hospital opens obesity clinic

Dubai, November 13, 2013

Hatta Hospital in the UAE has opened a dedicated obesity and weight management clinic to help overweight patients  fight the flab.

UAE has a high prevalence of overweight and obese population in the country and as per  2012 World Health Organization statistics, UAE is tenth on a list of countries with the most overweight people.

A person with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more is generally considered obese. A person with a BMI equal to or more than 25 is considered overweight.

Dr Saif Abdulla Bin Lewali, CEO of Hatta Hospital, said: “Given the high prevalence of overweight and obese individuals in the country, we recognised the need for a dedicated clinic that provides customised weight management plans including weight loss techniques, dietary plans, exercise programs, as well as advice on behaviour modification to help patients battle the bulge so that they can take charge of their health and most importantly adapt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Education and support are two important factors to help people take charge of their health and we aim to direct them to this path.” – TradeArabia News Service
