Ernst & Young sponsors cleantech event

Abu Dhabi, January 3, 2012

Ernst & Young, a global professional services organisation, is sponsoring a major clean technology event at the upcoming World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi.

The fifth edition of WFES, a key clean energy global event, will run from January 16 to 19.

Ernst & Young is the founding and lead sponsor of the Project Village, which draws thousands of senior level decision makers every year and tens of thousands of visitors. It provides a global platform to conduct business in the clean technology, renewable energy and low carbon market during the four day event.

Twenty renewable energy and cleantech developers from across Egypt, Ghana, India, Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, UAE and the US will be present at the Project Village to showcase cutting-edge projects and conduct full business presentations.

The New & Renewable Energy Authority of Egypt will showcase two wind projects in the Gulf of El Zayt with a total capacity of 420 MW, which forms part of a wider scheme to generate 3GW of wind capacity in the area with future projects. Kawar Energy of Jordan will also showcase a utility-scale photovoltaic project with a capacity of 100 MW.

In total, the potential generating capacity on exhibit at the Project Village is in excess of one Gigawatt.

“The Project Village offers the ideal platform for project developers and entrepreneurs to network with the world’s cutting-edge solutions providers and industry thought leaders,” said Gil Forer, Global Cleantech leader at Ernst & Young.

“As the world economy strives to become more resource efficient and low-carbon, Ernst & Young will continue to focus on the Cleantech marketplace by addressing the issues facing five key market segments: innovators, project developers, investors, corporations and government. Our insights and global experience can help business capitalize on the opportunities the sector presents, and we are delighted to support the Project Village and the innovation it promotes.”

Bassam Hage, markets leader, Ernst & Young Mena, said: “Cleantech is not only about technology, it involves an ecosystem of government, industry and financial players as well. WFES and the Project Village have proven to be an effective forum for industry interaction in the past and as it focuses on new technology this year, it will allow fresh assessment of future projects in the Mena region.”

The Project Village is hosted in association with Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), a leading provider of data and analysis on the clean energy sector and supported by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), based in Abu Dhabi.

Visitors to the Project Village will also have the chance to attend a series of presentations and debates by Ernst & Young and Bloomberg New Energy Finance around the latest insights and developments within the energy sector. – TradeArabia News Service
