New $16m Bahrain hospital set to open

The Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH), a 65-bed multispecialty hospital, will open its doors to patients on January 15 following the completion of all the necessary preparations.

The new hospital, a 50-50 joint venture between Bahraini investors and Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), will have highly sophisticated equipment and facilities, promoters said at a press conference today.

RBH is the sixth and latest health care institution launched by the KIMS Group in the GCC. The hospital, with an investment of BD6 million ($15.9 million), features a complete range of state-of-the-art medical equipment.

The new hospital stands for the group's commitment to providing superior patient care and scientific expertise to the people of Bahrain and beyond, said chairman - RBH, Dr M I Sahadulla.

RBH is located in the Salmaniya area of Bahrain.

“We will play our part in providing superior medical services to the people of Bahrain and investing in skilled Bahraini employees, thus contributing to the well-being of the Kingdom in more ways than one,” said president -RBH, Ahmed Jawahery.

As a multispecialty hospital, RBH offers affordable superior care and scientific expertise in an extensive range of medical departments.

RBH has received the necessary approval from the Ministry of Health and the first phase of operations will launch a number of departments which will be fully open and functional. These are Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery, Dentistry, Physiotherapy and 24-hour clinic. The hospital's out-patient department will function from 9 am to 1 pm, and 4.30 om to 8.30 pm.

 “It is the norm for major hospitals to open in several phases,” said managing director- RBH Dr M A Mohamed. “This only ensures a safe and caring environment for patients and allows for the full use of our world-class Hospital Information Service,” he added.

The rest of the departments will open in rapid succession. These include General Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Family Medicine, Pulmonology with the latest Sleep Lab, Cardiology, ICU, Endocrinology, General Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Urology (Genito Urinary), Breast Surgery (Breast Disease and Cosmetic), Anesthesiology for all branches of surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Pediatrics,  Emergency Medicine, Ophthalmology, , Otorhinolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat), Radiology,  and  Pathology among other departments and sub-divisions. There are also specialised clinics and health centers such as the Diabetes Centre, Health Screening Centre and the Breast Care Centre.

Dr Abdul Gaffar, medical director- RBH, said: “A healthy population provides a productive community that will enhance the national economy.”

The team of doctors comprises leading consultants and specialists - both Bahrainis and expatriates.

The new hospital is in a modern four-storey building and covers an area of 70,000 sq ft. RBH will provide a variety of premium services at reasonable prices such as in-patient accommodation, out-patient clinics, suites and deluxe rooms, food and beverage and cafeteria services, a gift shop, a pharmacy and ambulance and transport services, said a statement.

RBH currently employs more than 200 people, out of which 55 are doctors and over hundred nursing staff.  The staff strength is expected to reach 500 when the hospital is fully functional in a month’s time.  –TradeArabia News Service
