NBK invites UK doctors to practice at hospital

Kuwait, August 12, 2010

The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) has invited a team of specialists from Great Ormond Street Hospital UK to take up residence at the NBK children’s hospital for a period of three years.

The aim of this first of its kind endeavor is to ensure to extend the latest expertise and cures in blood disorders such as leukemia to the children of the hospital stricken with this illness among other conditions, it said in a statement.

“The science of blood disorders forces the medical community to keep constant vigil regarding the latest studies and treatments, especially for those children innocently suffering from these types of diseases,” said Hilal Al Sayer, Minister of Health.

“NBK has graciously offered to undertake this selfless act of covering the costs of having this team of doctors join the already talented headboard of doctors,” he added.

Isam Al Sager, CEO of NBK, said: “The NBK children’s hospital is a pivotal milestone in the country’s application of corporate social responsibility, far surpassing the citizens’ expectations, we are committed and proud to do so if it means our future generations are taken care of.” – TradeArabia News Service
