Free check-ups to mark World Health Day
Dubai, April 5, 2010
EHL Management Services, a leading provider of healthcare in the Middle East, is offering free health screening for the public at four Welcare Clinics on April 7 to mark the World Health Day.
The free health checks will include blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index (BMI) tests, which will provide a general indication of an individual’s overall health, said a EHL statement.
The tests will be available on a drop-in basis at Welcare Ambulatory Care Centre, Welcare Clinic Mirdif, Welcare Clinic Qusais and Emirates Diagnostic Clinic from 9am to 2pm.
Free advice on ways to adopt and live a physically active and healthy life will also be provided to all visitors, by medical professionals, it added.
A World Health Organisation (WHO) initiative, the World Health Day annually seeks to raise awareness of key health issues that affect people around the globe.
The theme for this year’s event is Urbanisation and Health, which calls on cities worldwide to open up their streets for health activities.
“Each year, World Health Day seeks to raise awareness about living a healthy life and it encourages individuals across the globe to take charge of their personal health and wellbeing,” said Dr Lisa Pinto, Group Manager Clinics.
'Our present lifestyle is associated with many health challenges related including tobacco use, unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, occupational stress and chronic conditions like obesity hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes,' she said.
'By offering these quick, efficient and potentially life-altering tests to people across our local community, we are not only bringing attention to the work of the WHO and the aims of World Health Day, but we are helping to make our community to chose healthier, happier and more productive lives,” Dr Pinto added.-TradeArabia News Service
