UAE, Florida ink health agreement

Abu Dhabi, February 9, 2009

The UAE Ministry of Health has signed a co-operation agreement with Florida Department of Health on medical research, continuous medical learning, training as well as the exchange of information on diseases.

The agreement was signed at the premises of the ministry in Abu Dhabi in presence of health minister Humaid Mohammed Al Qattami, US Ambassador to the UAE Richard J. Olsen and governor of Orange County, Florida, Charlie Crist, said a Wam report.

Co-operation between the two sides will be compliant with regulations adopted in the US and its globally-accredited health and medical institutions such as blood banks and the Florida Department of Health, the report added.

As per the agreement, the two sides will co-operate on researches on stem cells and umbilical-cord blood as well as on blood transfusion, blood banking, non-viral diseases and blood-carried diseases.
