Aldar Academies celebrates exceptional A-Level results
ABU DHABI, August 24, 2018
Aldar Academies, the education arm of Abu Dhabi property developer Aldar, said its Al Yasmina Academy, one of the UAE’s leading providers of private education, is celebrating another year of exceptional A-Level results.
The academy’s cohort of 38 A-Level students earned a 100 per cent pass rate overall, with 87 per cent achieving one or more A* to C grades. 71 per cent of students also gained one or more A* to B grades – a 3 per cent rise over 2017’s results. Meanwhile, 8 per cent of students achieved all A*/A grades, with 34 per cent gaining one or more A* to A grades.
Commenting on the perfomance, Dr Tim Hughes, Al Yasmina Academy Principal, said: "We are thrilled to celebrate another year of rising A-Level results, especially against the backdrop of our “outstanding” rating as an overseas British School (BSO) earlier this year."
"It’s been hugely satisfying to see our students exceed expectations and make outstanding progress at Al Yasmina Academy. In particular, their exceptional performance in the STEM disciplines, which are such an integral part of our future-focused curriculum. This is another results day to be proud of for our entire academy community," noted Dr Hughes.
Students excelled in a range of subjects including Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Art Textiles, and Media, and their outstanding performance has already attracted offers from some of the world’s leading universities.
“I did cry when I opened my results – there was definitely a feeling of relief and overwhelming happiness,” said an excited Amber Harding, the academy’s highest achiever with 2A* and 2A grades, who plans to study biomedicine at Maastricht University, Netherlands.
“I was lucky to have teachers around me that were so willing to put in the extra hours to help, but this also took hours and hours of independent study,” she stated.
“This is a great feeling. I already knew my predicted grades so wasn’t completely surprised, but it’s still so exciting to achieve at this level,” remarked Zaid Jaffrey, who earned 2A* and 1A, and will now study Electrical Engineering at Imperial College London.
“Organization, consistency, hard work and, of course, the support of my teachers were so important to my success. Their door was always open for me,” he added.
Among the rest of the academy’s top performers, Callum Lynn of the UK earned 3 A grades, while Mexico’s Jimena Del Valle Lopez Vallejo earned 1 A*, 1A and 1B.
“This wonderful achievement not only points to continued excellence from Al Yasmina Academy, but also reinforces the fact that the UAE’s education sector is continuing to mature and flourish,” stated Nilay Özral, the CEO of Aldar Academies.
"Many of this year’s graduating cohort will move on to the best universities in the world and eventually lead their industry, with the roots of that success having taken hold in the UAE. Today’s results are an important stepping stone in doing so, and we’re extremely proud of all our students," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
