Abu Dhabi QCC inks deal with Emirates Post

ABU DHABI, June 17, 2017

Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), the entity responsible for developing quality infrastructure in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, has signed a collaboration agreement with Emirates Post Group to verify the accuracy of legal measuring instruments used in its business operations in Abu Dhabi.

The partnership deal was signed by Dr Helal Humaid Al Kaabi, the acting secretary general of QCC and Abdullah Mohammed Al Ashram, the acting CEO of Emirates Post Group.

It is aimed at facilitating the exchange of information and expertise between both sides on monitoring consignments related to controlled products and legal measuring instruments such as commercial scales, blood pressure monitors and thermometers as well as pre-packaged containers.

Under its terms, QCC inspectors will collect samples of controlled product shipments handled by the Emirates Post Group and verify their compliance with the relevant quality and safety requirements before they enter the market.

This helps the two parties identify products with potential risks and safety concerns, and prevent their circulation.

Sultan Abdulrahman Al Midfa, the chief executive of Postal Operations at Emirates Post Group, said: "The signing of this agreement with QCC is aligned with Emirates Post Group’s core values of transparency and integrity in service delivery."

"It will boost customer happiness and create an enabling environment for providing high quality services to our customers, stated Al Midfa.

"In signing this agreement, we seek to strengthen our collaboration with QCC and exchange expertise and information on dealing with product shipments related controlled products and legal measuring instruments," he noted.

"This will help us step up our collective efforts to identify potential risks and prevent the circulation of products that pose safety concerns. Emirates Post Group is keen to leverage its strong relations with other entities to enhance the quality of services offered to our customers in the postal area of Abu Dhabi," he added.

Sultan Al Mehairi, the director of Information Service and Engagement at QCC, said the agreement is part of its ongoing efforts to leverage synergies with quality-focused stakeholders in the public and private sector towards ensuring the effectiveness of surveillance mechanisms for controlled goods.

The agreement, he noted, will enable QCC to meet its obligations towards suppliers and consumers through protecting them from potentially hazardous products.

"We are always on the lookout for ways to enhance our inspection capabilities and ensure that all products entering the Abu Dhabi market, especially controlled products, are duly inspected and tested for conformity, quality and safety," remarked Al Mehairi.

"These measures play an important role in protecting the interests of our national economy and enhancing its competitiveness while boosting consumer confidence in products traded in our markets," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
