Dubai design institute names new president

DUBAI, March 20, 2017

Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) board of directors today announced the appointment of Dr Amina Al Rustamani, CEO - Tecom Group, as president of DIDI, the first private not-for-profit design university in the region.

The university has been established under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The board of directors comprises a multi-disciplinary team of industry experts in order to ensure a seamless student academic journey.

The board is chaired by Fadel Al Ali, CEO of Dubai Holding, and includes the following members: Dr Amina Al Rustamani; Ali BuRuhaima, deputy director general – Dubai Creative Clusters Authority; Ali Jaber, group TV director – Middle East Broadcasting Corporation (MBC); Nisha Jagtiani, director – Landmark Group; Ghassan Harfouche, CEO – Middle East Communications Network (MCN); and Silvio Scaglia, chairman – Pacific Global Management Group.

DIDI is a strategic partnership between Tecom Group and Dubai Creative Clusters Authority (DCCA), and its curriculum will be jointly developed with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and The New School’s Parsons School of Design (Parsons).

Located at the heart of the creative community at Dubai Design District (d3), DIDI will offer the region’s first Bachelor of Design degree with cross concentrations in Product Design, Strategic Design Management, Visual Arts, Media and Fashion Design, with the first intake of students planned for Fall 2018.  - TradeArabia News Service
