Brighton College Dubai gets new headmaster
DUBAI, March 6, 2017
Bloom Education and the Governors of Brighton College have jointly announced the appointment of Marco Longmore as the founding head master of Brighton College Dubai, (the fourth sister school of Brighton College UK).
In his new role, Longmore will be assisting the local team in setting the key priorities for school launch and recruitment of pupils and staff.
Welcoming him to the Brighton College (UAE) family, Henning Fries, CEO of Bloom Education, said: "His proven track record at the helm of several renowned Head Masters Conference (HMC) schools, in the UK makes him the right fit to lead Brighton College Dubai into the future."
Longmore, 47, has been Rector of The Edinburgh Academy, one of Scotland’s leading HMC schools, for the past eight and a half years.
A Scot, Marco read History at Edinburgh before beginning his teaching career in 1991 at George Heriot’s School, becoming Head of History at George Watson’s College in 1998.
His next move was south, as Senior Deputy Head at Alleyn’s School in London, before returning to the Scottish capital in 2008 to lead the Academy. During the period of his headship, The Edinburgh Academy has grown to become one of Scotland’s most successful co-educational schools.
On the appointment, Longmore said: "Brighton College Dubai will bring the very best of British independent co-educational schooling to the city of Dubai. The excellence of education found at Brighton College UK and already witnessed in the UAE at the Brighton Colleges in Abu Dhabi and AI Ain will be our starting point."
Lord Mogg, the chairman of Governors of Brighton College, said: "We are fortunate to have attracted a Head with such great experience to lead Brighton College Dubai, and look forward to working with him and Bloom Education to deliver a world-class school for Dubai."
