UAE launches 5-year plan to bolster personal records

ABU DHABI, February 27, 2017

The Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) has announced its 5-year Strategic Plan for 2017-2021, with a vision that focuses on maintaining its achievements in providing identification for all UAE citizens and residents.

The plan envisages offering precise confirmation and proof of identify, either in person or through electronic and digital tools, with ease and according to the highest international standards, reported Wam, the Emirates official news agency.

The statement came during a meeting of EIDA’s management that was held last week, headed by Dr. Saeed Abdullah bin Mutlaq Al Ghafli, Director-General of EIDA, with the attendance of its sector managers and its management and organisational units.

According to the authority, its new strategy revolves around managing personal records based on quality standards, which guarantees the maintenance of up to date and accurate personal data, and enables ease of access by statistics and research centres and other authorities in the country.

EIDA adopted four goals in its 2017-2021 plan, with the first focussing on managing the identification process to guarantee the quality and safety of personal data provided by the population.

The second goal focuses on widening the range of uses for identification as a main reference for different sectors of the country, and improving customer service and technological advances for authorities that rely on the latest and most accurate population data.

The third goal is to provide efficient and transparent overall management services to guarantee effective customer service and achieve the highest levels of accuracy in financial planning for self-income purposes.

EIDA also focuses on six institutional values, which include customer service, quality and excellence, creativity and innovation, institutional loyalty, teamwork and focussing on partners.

The launch of the strategy represents a new stage of giving, and on-going work for EIDA, as the main and only reference for confirming identification in the country, and the most-trusted authority in providing identification and identification services. It is also one of the most important authorities that contributed to the success of smart and electronic technology advances, and for achieving the UAE Vision 2021, said Dr Al Ghafli, director-general of EIDA.

The meeting also highlighted the new Digital Authentication Gate project, as well as other authorities that will benefit from its services, along with the visions that follow the goal of developing and widening its service range, and the addition of new services.
