ABU DHABI, February 11, 2017
Bloom Education, the education division of Bloom Holding, has announced the appointment of Simon Corns as the new neadmaster of Brighton College Abu Dhabi (BCAD), one of the most academically successful 3-18 British curriculum schools in the Middle East.
Corns was appointed following an extensive search from an impressive selection of candidates, for his exceptional track record at four Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC) schools in the UK, said a statement from Bloom.
Welcoming the appointment, Henning Fries, the chief executive of Bloom Education, said: "His impressive academic credentials and distinguished teaching career at leading HMC schools make him the ideal candidate to lead BCAD’s efforts to prepare a new generation of leaders for the future."
"We are confident that under Simon’s leadership, BCAD will continue on its course of academic success and reinforce its reputation as the most prestigious independent school in the UAE," he observed.
Prior to his current appointment, Corns worked as Headmaster at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Blackburn. Earlier he held the positions of Second Master (Senior Deputy Head) at St Albans School in Hertfordshire and Head of Languages at Arnold School in Blackpool.
His first teaching post was at Merchant Taylors' School in Northwood. After completing his secondary education at Merchant Taylors' Boys’ School in Crosby, Corns graduated from Gonville and Caius College in Cambridge with a degree in Modern and Medieval Languages.
Corns said: "I am very keen to maintain Brighton College Abu Dhabi’s commitment to excellence, both in academic and co-curricular activities. While academic achievements are of paramount importance, I strongly believe that pupils should have the confidence to develop all-round abilities that will stand them in good stead in modern society."
"This versatile approach to education, deeply embedded in the British independent school system, works to the benefit of all in the Middle Eastern context, as BCAD’s excellent results and glowing inspection reports to date testify," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
