Al Tayer ... we are willing to provide our full support to
the Mass Wedding initiative

Dewa partners with Dubai Women’s Association

DUBAI, January 22, 2017

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has signed a MoU with Dubai Women’s Association to support the global vision of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC) for Awqaf and Endowments.

MBRGCEC is the first organisation launched to support marriage endowment, and strengthen its work, while Dewa will receive the marriage endowment sign for young Emiratis, said a statement from the organisation.

As per the terms of the MoU, Dewa will provide an annual endowment of Dh2 million ($544,514) to Dubai Women’s Association, to support mass weddings, and strengthen family ties.

The deal will also enhance co-operation between the two sides, and pave way for provision of training, consulting, family services, and some marital initiatives.

The MoU was signed under the patronage of Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and CEO of Dewa, said: "Our strategies, plans, and initiatives are inspired by the vision of our wise leadership."

“We are honoured to be the first government organisation to support the marriage endowment sign, and are willing to provide our full support to the Mass Wedding initiative, by bearing the full costs for the mass wedding, and contributing to building a society based on close families and communities,” stated Al Tayer.

Hamad Al Hammadi, the secretary general of MBRGCEC, pointed out that the co-operation between Dewa and Dubai Women’s Association is an important step towards the social development of the emirate.

“Dewa was one of the first organisations to adopt ‘Waqf’ as a social responsibility. This has had a major social impact on youth, and reflects the efforts made by both of the organisations,” he said.

Dr Fatima Mohammed Saeed Al Falasi, director general of the Dubai Women's Association, said: “We are working to launch initiatives that support community and family affairs. As part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) we aim to develop our services according to the highest standards, in adherence with the vision of the wise leadership on family stability and cohesion.”

“Our cooperation with Dewa reflects our efforts to uphold this vision. We cooperate with a number of government organisations to support charitable and social initiatives, including mass weddings to support the psychological and emotional stability of the young,” she added.

“Through this agreement, we aim to exchange best practices, and organise training sessions regarding family matters, while providing counselling to Dewa employees,” noted Al Falasi. – TradeArabia News Service
