Brighton College Al Ain names new HM

ABU DHABI, June 27, 2016

Bloom Education, the education division of Bloom Holding, has appointed Dr Kenneth Greig as headmaster of Brighton College Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Dr Greig brings to his new role a distinguished academic profile with a proven track record of successful leadership experience developed over 16 years at the helm of two Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC) schools - an association of independent boarding and day schools in the UK, said a statement from the company.

He was also the rector of Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow, Scotland, for the past decade, and is the former headmaster of Pangbourne College in Berkshire.

Dr Greig holds a Master of Arts in Natural Science (Geology) from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Geology from the University of Edinburgh.

His appointment follows Brighton College Al Ain’s recent achievement of being awarded the highest ranking of any school in the UAE - following a four-day inspection of the British-style premium school.

The college has been judged as ‘Outstanding’ in every category by an Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) inspection team, becoming the first school to ever achieve a ‘perfect score’ in the city of Al Ain.

Richard Cairns, headmaster of Brighton College UK, said: “Dr Greig's appointment comes at an ideal time in the history of our college in Al Ain. His stellar track record, coupled with the college's position as best in the city, will ensure it remains the academic destination of choice for all aspirational Al Ain families.”

Henning Fries, CEO, Bloom Education, said: “Dr Greig’s appointment emphasises Brighton College UK's commitment to providing leading-edge education in Al Ain, one that makes a real difference to students’ development and future opportunities.”

On his new role, Dr Greig said: “It is very exciting to be coming to a school that ADEC rates as ‘Outstanding’. Brighton College’s commitment to excellence across all areas of school life is clearly working.”

“I am delighted to lead a team of committed teachers striving to raise the bar in terms of quality education and empower the next generation,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
