RTA to auction off license plates for Reading Nation

DUBAI, UAE , June 16, 2016

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has put up five license plate numbers for auction in support of the Reading Nation Ramadan campaign that aims to provide books to underprivileged children and libraries.

The five license plates – L22, R10, T13, O70 and Q15 – will be auctioned off on June 21 at Madinat Jumeirah. The charity auction will be curated and conducted by Emirates Auctions.

Mattar Al Tayer, director general and chairman of the board of executive directors of the RTA, said: “RTA believes that knowledge is the best and fastest way to eradicate poverty and we are confident that supporting the Reading Nation Ramadan campaign is a sacred duty and social responsibility that organisations must undertake to help millions of children that do not have the resources to learn, gain knowledge, develop themselves and build their future.”

The Reading Nation Ramadan campaign has drawn the wide-scale participation of government entities, public and private sector organizations in the UAE, educational and retail establishments and the community at large.

Etisalat and Du Telecommunications have dedicated toll-free numbers through which individuals can make donations to the campaign throughout Ramadan, while the Emirates Red Crescent and Dubai Cares receive donations through their bank accounts, branch locations, and donation kiosks across the country.

In addition, the UAE Ministry of Education has organized events and activities to encourage students to donate books, that will be sent to children and students in refugee camps. –TradeArabia News Service
