Diplomats are appealing for a general amnesty on undocumented migrant workers living illegally in Bahrain to be extended so that it covers suspected criminals. The six-month amnesty, which was launched by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) on July 1 and ends next Thursday (December 31), allows for any foreign national who stayed on in the country after their work permit expired to return home without penalty, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
