Almoayyed and Dadabhai at the signing
BIHR in deal to train Bahrainis in retail
MANAMA, June 24, 2015
An agreement has been signed between the Bahrain Institute of Hospitality and Retail (BIHR) and the Specific Council for Training in Retail, it was announced yesterday (June 23).
Under the agreement, 30 Bahrainis selected by the council will receive training at BIHR for a diploma in retail from Australian Retail Association, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
The nine-month long course will have two batches of 15 students each.
The agreement also provides for 15 selected diploma holders to receive advanced training
in leadership and communication.
Specific Council for Training in Retail chairwoman Amal Almoayyed said BIHR was chosen for “its strong capabilities and well-equipped campus”.
“This is in line with government policies aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Bahrainis, making them the first choice for prospective employers in the retail sector, which is a big contributor to national income and creation of jobs,” she said.
According to BIHR managing director Hatim Dadabai, the mutually beneficial partnership would help it in helping to position Bahrain as a centre of excellence in retail and hospitality management.
“We are committed to meeting the needs of the hospitality and retail industry by providing highly trained individuals to deliver benchmark standards of managerial competence in hospitality,” he added. - TradeArabia News Service
