Bahrain school construction work on track

The foundation work of a school that will offer wide range of facilities to more than 1,400 students such as multipurpose laboratories for science, library and sports hall has been completed.
Works, Muncipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry assistant under-secretary for construction projects Mona Al Mutawa said work is on track at Isa Town Primary Boys School.
She said the design and supervision of the project was carried out as part of the Gulf Fund Programme; funded by the Saudi Development Fund, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.
The BD4.88 million ($12.85 million) project awarded by the Tender Board will support sustainable educational needs for all Bahraini citizens.
The four-storey school building comprises 35 classrooms, with a capacity to accommodate 1,400 students.
Eighty parking spaces will be provided, 60 for the faculty and 20 for visitors and parents, in addition to bus stops and an air conditioned waiting area for students.
The official said the new building has been designed based on the Education Ministry's latest requirements, which include green buildings and energy saving measures.
She said that the new school building is being constructed over the same area of the present school building, adding that the students will be moved to the new building once it is completed.
The old building will be demolished and the vacant land will be dedicated for the implementation of outdoor fields for sports activities.-TradeArabia News Service
