WISE opens nominations for 2015 prize
DOHA, February 4, 2015
The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), an international, multi-sectoral platform, has started the selection for the 2015 WISE Prize for Education with an invitation for nominations.
Submissions must be made through the WISE website by March 31.
Now in its fifth year, the WISE Prize for Education is the first global recognition of an individual or team for an outstanding contribution to education. The WISE Prize raises the status of education by giving it similar prestige enjoyed in other fields for which international prizes exist - such as literature, peace, and economics.
The WISE Prize for Education recognizes an inspiring, visionary approach as well as a proven track record of achievement in education at any level, field, or sector.
Nominations can be made by individuals or institutions - including schools, international organizations and private companies - from anywhere in the world.
Nominations will be reviewed by an international committee of education experts. The final selection will be made by a high-level Jury of distinguished individuals chaired by Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, chairman of WISE.
"Our WISE Prize for Education Laureates are all individuals whose passion, energy, and commitment have been an inspirational force for good in the world of education,” Dr Al-Thani said.
“And they are not alone. The WISE Prize has focused international attention on the crucial importance of education in building strong, prosperous societies. I very much look forward to identifying the 2015 WISE Prize for Education Laureate."
The WISE Prize for Education Laureate, who receives a gold medal and $500,000, will be announced at the World Innovation Summit for Education, one of the largest gatherings of leading education innovators, taking place between November 3 and 5 in Doha, Qatar. – TradeArabia News Service
