Bahrain eGA, BIBF launch e-content training programme

MANAMA, November 28, 2014

The eGovernment Authority (eGA) and Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) have launched an integrated training programme on e-content management.

The move is a part of initiatives to enhance Arabic e-content through capacity-building of Bahrainis in this area, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The programme is scheduled to commence next March with the participation of 18 trainees as part of the first batch.

It focusses on the delivery of a globally-recognised collection of best practices on e-content applications in direct connection with the requirements of employment services in the public and private sectors in Bahrain.

A broad selection of professional experts in e-content management will provide specialised training on basics of website content design, content development in English and Arabic, leadership skills enhancement, information technology project management and online marketing campaigns.

Trainees will receive professional certifications recognised by the BIBF, in full compliance with the requirements of certifications provided by institutes such as Edexcel, Institute of Leadership and Management and Project Management Institute.

The programme combines four-months of classroom-based academic education with six-month long hands-on training focused on online media, graphic design and educational technology in public and private sector organisations.

The integrated training programme is specifically designed for new Bahraini undergraduates holding BA in Mass Communications in an attempt to prepare them for the labour market.

It is also aimed at enhancing the dissemination of e-content implementations and training specialised staff in eContent management in accordance with globally recognised practices.

This is in order to ensure that trainees are qualified to manage and develop e-content in government agencies and non-governmental organisations.

The programme includes a full range of skills such as written communication through the use of multimedia - to be provided in both theoretical and practical parts for a period of 70 training hours; training in managerial and leadership skills (20 hours); project management and online marketing (23 hours), along with technology and design (60 hours).

Skills incorporated in the programme are equivalent to those provided by advanced programmes in prestigious institutes across the globe.

eGA chief executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed said the activity aims at enabling Bahraini youth to acquire the basic skills in areas covering eContent management, and provide practical training for enhancement of capacity-building at various levels.

BIBF deputy director Dr Ahmed Al Shaikh emphasised that the support for development requirements in Bahraini labour market ranked among the top priorities of the institute in education and vocational training.

He also noted that BIBF has been supported by a panel of experts from a full spectrum of scientific and vocational disciplines, mainly in the ICT industry, and its multi-faceted applications.

"This co-operation with the eGA in such a key development project falls under the higher goals of the Economic Vision 2030 to enhance e-content.

"It in line with the institute's objectives to achieve leadership excellence in the education and vocational training sector," he added. - TradeArabia News Service
