BIBF, University of London discuss tie-up
Manama, August 10, 2014
Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) deputy director Dr Ahmed Al-Shaikh recently met with senior officials of the University of London’s (UoL) to discuss plans to strengthen the cooperation between the two institutions.
BIBF met with UoL’s pro vice-chancellor (international) and chief executive, Dr Mary Stiasny, in the UK.
The topics discussed at the meeting included the implementation of an agreement signed earlier to establish BIBF as a recognised centre for the UoL international programmes. This would entitle the BIBF students to a number of rewards and benefits, it said.
“Fostering academic relationships with the most prestigious international universities is a strategic priority of the Institute,” said Dr Al-Shaikh.
“These relationships demonstrate our longstanding commitment to academic quality. Our focus is to offer specialist international programmes which meet the needs of the labour market, especially in the areas of finance, banking, and technical and managerial services for students in Bahrain and the region,” he added.
Currently, BIBF offers many academic programmes in cooperation with international universities such as the University of DePaul (USA) and University of Bangor (UK), it said. – TradeArabia News Service
