Salary tops influencing factors for selecting a job

Salary stood as the top reason while considering a new job, according to 74 per cent of job seekers who took part in a recent survey.
The Naukrigulf.com survey found that the roles which are on offer and the reputation of the company emerged as the second most important factor with 41 per cent respondents ranking them as the second most important factor while selecting a job.
The job site conducted the survey among 12,000 job seekers to find out about factors influencing their decision to choose a job and top aspirational sectors in the region.
The sruvey found that other benefits like accomodation, insurance also mattered. However, there was a huge gap when compared to the previous factors.
Meanwhile, the location of the job was ranked the least important factor in selecting it, it said
Tarun Aggarwal, business head, Naukrigulf.com, said: “The result of the survey reinforces the fact that salary is the main factor which helps the job seekers in deciding a new job. It also reveals that foreign and multinational companies are gaining popularity among professionals in the region.
“The survey also helps us to gauge the preferred industries of those seeking employing thereby presenting a complete picture of professional’s preferences”.
About 76 per cent of job seekers ranked UAE as their most preferred location within the Middle East, while Qatar was ranked second with 43 per cent and Saudi Arabia came in third with 28 per cent.
Foreign and multinational companies emerged as the most preferred sector in the region with 74 per cent of the job seekers indicating their preference to work in the the sector, said the survey.
About 52 per cent stated government sector, making it the second most preferred sector, while 38 per cent of the job seekers preferred to work with a local company, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
