Huawei to train Kuwait students at China HQ

Kuwait, July 7, 2014

Huawei, a global ICT solutions provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kuwait University to enroll select Kuwait IT students in an education programme at Huawei’s headquarters in China.

Located in Shenzen province, Huawei’s global headquarters will play host to the ‘Telecom Seeds for the Future’ summer IT education programme, which offers 10 hopeful students the opportunity to develop practical skills preparing them for a career in the ICT industry.

“This MOU with Huawei marks an important milestone for Kuwait University as we forge greater partnerships with companies that can offer invaluable training experiences for our students,” said Husain A Al-Khaiat, dean of the College of Engineering & Petroleum at Kuwait University.

“Through this initiative Huawei is supporting the next generation of ICT and Telecom professionals in Kuwait, contributing to the growing knowledge economy in the country and helping to push educational boundaries for 10 of our top students. By exposing them to a real world environment, this initiative helps to bridge the crucial gap between the classroom and the workplace, offering technical competence and increased employment prospects for the students.”

This local Kuwait initiative falls in line with Huawei’s global CSR vision of promoting the development of the economy and environment in the markets in which Huawei operate.

The MOU outlines a programme for Huawei to provide technical training including workshops and technical training sessions on a range of ICT trending topics including next-generation networks, network architecture and implementation, VoIP, security solutions and cloud computing amongst others.

Terry He, general manager Huawei Kuwait said: “It is with great pride that we can extend our educational CSR initiative in Kuwait for the first time. By partnering with Kuwait University we can offer a unique training opportunity to their students, helping to add to their ICT skills and make them more valuable and employable after graduation.

“This globalisation approach is the cornerstone of our market strategy in the Middle East and the best way for us to make a measurable impact in the communities in which we operate. It is so important that we develop and nurture talent in every market that we are based. We hope that we will be able to build a long term partnership with Kuwait University so that we can send students to our HQ in China each year.” – TradeArabia News Service
