Oman college joins SAP dual study programme
Muscat, December 3, 2013
Oman-based Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) has signed up for SAP’s Dual Study Education Programme.
The programme focuses on combining and alternating SAP-specific skills and theory, said a statement from SAP.
The two-year programme is hosted at universities and interwoven with a student’s standard curriculum, it said.
Students will gain SAP certifications, project management skills and internships opportunities at the company and its partner ecosystem both locally and globally.
The programme is central to SAP’s bid to up-skill local talent in the region and forms a key part of the company’s Training and Development Institute strategy, said the statement.
“MCBS has a long and distinguished history of producing graduates that have gone on to lead and innovate in both Oman and beyond,” said prof Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Naamany, dean.
“SAP’s programme brings a new dimension to our curriculum. This is a collaboration truly focused on delivering essential skills and encouraging new ways of thinking about the importance and power of technology at the workplace,” he said.
Marita Mitschein, SAP Training and Development Institute managing director and growth plan lead for the Mena region, said: “The combination of MCBS’s academic offerings and SAP’s business know-how will open up new career opportunities for graduates and give them early exposure to potential employers.”
In addition to the Dual Study Programme, the Training and Development Institute supports a host of initiatives, including Mawared, a three-month ‘bootcamp’ for young graduates; the second Chance Education Program, which qualifies unemployed graduates as SAP certified consultants and users; and the University Alliances Programme, which provides participating institutions with training on the SAP Business Suite family of solutions. - TradeArabia News Service
