Serco holds ‘human factor’ workshop
Manama, May 15, 2012
Leading vocational training provider in Bahrain, Serco Kanoo Training Solutions (SKTS) recently conducted its first workshop on ‘human factor’ at the SKTS Training Centre in the Seef District.
The aim of the workshop was to give delegates an introduction to human factors and error management system, a statement from the company said. It also aims to cater to non-aviation industries.
The invitation-only workshop attended by quality managers, error managers, mems co-ordinators, maintenance managers, forward-operating base key staff and licensed engineers from across different industries, explored the implications of error, organisation’s safety culture, procedures, safety policy and methods of communication.
Mike Horton, technical director, said: “A simple way to view human factors is to consider three aspects - job, individual and organisation. It is about people and their relationship with other people, equipment, procedures and environment increasing their leadership qualities, control and decision-making.”
“We, at SKTS, aim to provide the right tools to help provide organisations information on what can set you up to make an error, and what ‘safety nets’ you can put in place to prevent that error or accident,” Horton said.
The company will hold a similar workshop on May 20, and the first batch of the course will start on June 1.
“Our objective is to empower businesses by training its employees and eliminating the adverse effects of human factor issues. It will give managers and executives the confidence to manage situations that require decisive action in a crisis,” Horton concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
