Varsity holds forum on online learning

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU), a leader in the field of e-learning, recently hosted a focus group discussion on online education with the participation of 11 leading academic institutions in the UAE.

The discussion entitled “Is Online Education More Effective than Conventional Education” was organised in line with HBMeU’s commitment to provide an interactive platform that enables learners across the country to share their knowledge and suggest different ideas and views on the importance of e-learning in developing the educational experience in the country and the region.

The discussion started with a video presentation about Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University and was followed by a debate on the difference between e-learning and conventional learning approaches to help learners get a better understanding of effective e-learning methods.

The participants also looked into the future of higher education and e-learning, particularly focusing on the distinct advantages and shortcomings of e-learning systems and conventional learning approaches.

Learners also shared their opinions and suggestions as most of them supported the concept of a hybrid university that combines conventional learning approaches with e-learning.

The focus group discussion also offered a range of suggestions aimed at developing and promoting learning and teaching methods in line with the latest developments.

Learners from Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, UAE University, Abu Dhabi Polytechnic Academy, Dubai Women’s College, Dubai College, University of Phoenix, Islamic and Arabic Studies College (Dubai), American University of Sharjah, Zayed University, Al Jazeera University and Ajman University of Science and Technology were among the many participants of this event.

Dr Mansoor Al Awar, chancellor of HBMeU, expressed his delight with the active participation of learners who served as an integral part of the discussion by sharing their personal experiences and suggestions and taking part in the discussions on advanced technologies and various aspects of e-learning.

He emphasised the importance of this initiative in promoting the exchange of knowledge among learners from different academic institutions, pointing out the need to take advantage of the latest technological advances and intensifying efforts to promote the role of learners in shaping the future of education. – TradeArabia News Service
