CUD, Canada school ink student transfer MoU
Dubai, December 14, 2011
Canadian University of Dubai (CUD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Canada’s Lakehead University (LU), which allows students to transfer to LU to complete their engineering degree.
The memorandum was signed by CUD President Dr Karim Chelli and a representative from Lakehead University (LU).
The articulation agreement in the MoU allows students who have completed the first part of CUD’s B.Sc. in Engineering programme to transfer to LU to complete the latter’s Bachelor of Engineering degree.
Under the agreement, CUD students may also transfer to LU for one year to earn LU’s Technology Diploma after spending an initial year at CUD. The earned credits may then be transferred back to the CUD degree.
CUD’s partnership with LU also includes a ‘Summer or Semester Abroad’ program where students from one institution will be allowed to study at the other and transfer credits back to their home institution; a ‘Visiting Faculty’ stipulation whereby both parties will create bilateral semestral or year-long teaching and research opportunities for their faculty; and a ‘Collaborative Research’ proviso for exploring opportunities for engaging in cooperative research.
“Our alliance with Lakehead University reflects our full commitment to academic excellence and the provision of a wide spectrum of education options for our students,” said Dr Chelli.
“Lakehead’s student-centered and research-intensive learning approach complements our efforts to leverage Canada’s diverse learning culture to broaden the knowledge and skills of our students to suit the ever-changing needs of the regional and global labor markets. We look forward to harvesting the fruits of this exceptional partnership,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
