Bahraini jobs push a success

A total of 1,836 Bahraini jobseekers were provided with employment in September, compared to the 1,451 in July.

Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan said that the kingdom was able to maintain the quarterly rate of unemployment at or below four per cent for the third quarter this year which has been internationally recognised as the safe level in past years.

Persistent efforts were made in July, August and September to speedily find suitable employment for jobseekers.

The minister made these remarks as he released statistics for the third quarter of this year.

The report contains data pertaining to recipients of unemployment compensatory incentives, training, employment and job vacancies.

Humaidan said that in September, Bahrain launched a project - 'Improvement of Bahraini university graduates' wages and salaries in the private sector'.

A committee was set up to implement and follow up the project for the sake of helping employees earning less than BD400 ($1,064).

The number of available job slots rose from 8,592 in July to 8,608 in September. The number of unemployed recipients of incentives rose from 1,417 in July to 1,757 in September.

The minister said that in the light of results realised in the third quarter of the year, the number of unemployed people reached 5,979 by the end of September - a slight increase above the rate that prevailed during the previous months of the year. – TradeArabia News Service
