Siemens to train Saudi graduates
Dammam, November 2, 2011
Global technology giant Siemens has signed a contract with Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic (SPSP) for the training and employment of 40 graduates from the institute.
The duration of the training program will be two years at SPSP, whereby students will go through multiple vocational trainings, and one year on the job training with Siemens, said a statement from Siemens.
The educational initiative of Siemens is aimed at the development of young Saudi nationals, it added.
Shadi Aldaoud, the head of Human Resources (Siemens in Saudi), said, 'In accordance with the government’s efforts in hiring Saudis into the local workforce, we are proud of this deal with SPSP which will cultivate development of local Saudi talent and expertise.'
'This is the beginning of a series of training and recruitment programs geared towards Saudis,' he added.
The program, he said, was one of many educational initiatives Siemens was conducting in the Kingdom, contributing to the development of young Nationals and preparing them for a successful and sustainable career.
'Students will have the opportunity to take a variety of theoretical courses such as English, Math, Health, Safety and Work Ethics and practical courses related to the electrical or mechanical field,' Aldaoud added.
Commenting on the initiative, SPSP managing director Abdullah Al Yami said, “Our goal at SPSP is to work collaboratively and in partnership with industry to provide the highest quality training programs for young Saudis to enable them to gain employment within the petroleum services industry.”
In February, Siemens had announced its intention to invest heavily in the construction of a gas turbine manufacturing facility in the eastern province in Saudi.
The facility will create qualified jobs and serve as a center of excellence and a technological hub for knowledge transfer, said Aldaoud.
The training agreement with SPSP is in line with the establishment of this facility which is part of the Siemens Saudi Arabia Energy Commitment, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
