Jordan varsity picks HP networking

Amman, September 19, 2011

The Applied Science University (ASU), Jordan’s largest private university, has selected HP Networking to deliver seamless wireless connectivity for 10,000 students and staff across the campus.

ASU replaced its Cisco network with an end-to-end HP wireless LAN (local area network) and WAN (wide area network) infrastructure, ensuring easy, uninterrupted access for all its users.

HP also provided the latest state-of-the-art equipment for ASU’s two educational wireless labs where students participate in hands-on activities for their wireless technology course.

HP 8212, HP 5406 and HP 2610 switches, HP MSM mobility controllers and HP MSR20 multi-service routers integrate seamlessly to improve ASU’s network performance and uptime for uninterrupted service.

HP 68 MSM Wireless Access Points allow users to connect securely to the wireless network and roam, providing seamless Wi-Fi access throughout the 365,000 sq m campus.

“The volume and size of files transferred by our students and faculty is constantly rising, putting a strain on our wireless network,” said Hani Abu Dames, Computer Center manager, ASU.

“The new HP network has significantly increased data transfer speeds, and enables ASU to offer secure, high-speed Wi-Fi access throughout our buildings.  HP Networking solutions are easy to deploy and simple to manage, all at a very cost-effective price,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
