Firm backs Bahrain people with special needs

Manama, December 14, 2010

Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Bahrain is setting up two hundred kiosks around the country over the next two years to get people with special needs into work.

They will be offered to people with special needs, who will be able to use them to sell whatever products they choose, it was announced yesterday.

The Dannatt (Pearls) project is being run in co-operation with the Social Development Ministry and the Family Bank and will see new kiosks spring up in gardens, parks, social centres and other public areas.

The company will pay for the kiosks and provide training for those manning them.

'The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Bahrain is dedicated to providing the necessary support for people with special needs in our community and we hope that this new partnership will help the society and people who are in most need of our support,' said operations general manager Sanjeev Khanna.

Meanwhile, Social Development Minister Dr Fatima Al Balushi said her organisation would also provide training and special licences for the kiosks.

'This agreement comes as a result of the activities of the ministry to empower people with special needs, provide suitable environment to integrate them into society and provide employment opportunities and self-employment,' she said.-TradeArabia News Service
