Microsoft launches digital education project
Manama, December 5, 2010
Microsoft Bahrain has announced the launch of its Innovate, Teach and Inspire project to be run in collaboration with the King Hamad School of Future Project in the Kingdom.
The project is in line with the IT giant's commitment to broaden digital inclusion and promote technology in education.
The initial phase of the project included a 'train the trainers' workshop for 60 master teachers in Bahrain last week, said Microsoft Gulf education director Azza Al Shinnawy.
"The teachers will now deliver the programme to their peers in 180 other schools."
The project is part of the Microsoft Partners in Learning agreement signed with the Education Ministry in 2008.
"We have made a long-term commitment to working with governments, educators, students and industry partners to expand the world of learning through technology to implement better ways to transform education for the benefit of students and teachers," she said.
"This is the perfect platform to demonstrate our commitment to the education sector by enriching classroom instruction and enhancing learning outcomes for students."
Shinnawy said participants received training on several Microsoft tools, including Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2010, Windows Live Movie Maker, Windows Live Blogging and SkyDrive.
King Hamad School of Future Project director Ahmed Hassan said the Microsoft programme would expose teachers to the latest technological advances and provide them with the tools to deliver innovative lessons.-TradeArabia News Service
