Abu Dhabi forum to bolster SMEs

UAE’s burgeoning small and medium enterprises could get a boost at an upcoming event in Abu Dhabi that will provide a platform to help develop young entrepreneurs as well as drive innovation in new and established businesses.
The Abu Dhabi Forum on Entrepreneurship will take place on April 12 and 13 Fairmont Bab Al Bahr.
Unveiled by the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED), an independent agency of the Government of Abu Dhabi, and Abu Dhabi University, a leading private higher education provider in the UAE, the forum is the second event under the leadership series.
Entitled ‘Transforming today’s ideas into tomorrow’s success for a more entrepreneurial Abu Dhabi’, the event takes into account a study conducted by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor which classified the UAE as among innovation-driven economies with a 38 per cent increase in start-up businesses.
“We are here to assist aspiring entrepreneurs in starting up from the costs to the risks making their business ideas a reality,” said Dr Ahmed Khalil Al Mutawa, chief executive officer, KFED.
“Our partnership with the Abu Dhabi University allows us to bring various opportunities through best practice sharing and networking in events such as this,” he added.
Organised by Aim Events, Abu Dhabi University’s Events Management Division, will gather business and government policy makers and entrepreneurial experts to tackle important issues on innovation and entrepreneurship issues that are important to the region.
“This forum is a logical continuation of the Leadership Series where some of the best entrepreneurial minds will discuss may insightful key points to understand the needs in creating a more entrepreneurial Abu Dhabi and the UAE,” said Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, chairman of Abu Dhabi University.
The forum will be presented thorough research programmes responding to the toughest questions from the young minds of budding entrepreneurs and future business owners, a statement said.
There will also be sessions highlighting how to attract high value investment and the central role of low taxation among others.
Practical case studies from local companies such as Forsa UAE and the Shelter UAE wherein the spirit of entrepreneurship and its challenges along with the journey of young Emirati entrepreneurs will be presented, the statement added. – TradeArabia News Service
