Abu Dhabi fund helps students buy laptops

Abu Dhabi Fund for Development contributed to the Social Solidarity Fund for Zayed University students to facilitate purchase of laptop computers to help them develop their scientific and academic potential.
"One of our focal areas is to improve socio educational standards in developing countries,” said Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, acting director general of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).
“Complementing these global initiatives, we are also committed to strengthening the potential of our citizens to strengthen their educational skills and enhance academic research in the UAE universities,” he added.
“Education is at the top of the priorities for our leadership, and through our support to the Social Security Fund of Zayed University, we are reiterating our commitment to support UAE national students and help them become partners in our country’s growth story.”
He added that ADFD will assist the national students to keep the pace with the modern requirements and achieve the highest levels of academic competitiveness.
Dr Suleiman Al Jassim, director of Zayed University, explained that the Solidarity Fund will select beneficiaries for financial support after evaluating a number of criteria including the family's income, number of members and social status.
It provides monthly aids as well as covers costs of laptop computers used during the academic year, and provides students with rewards to motivate them to enhance their performance. He said these initiatives help the students and their families in overcoming problems and pursuing academic studies.
Safia Al Ragbani, head of development affairs at Zayed University said ADFD's initiative will provide students with an academic environment that motivates them to achieve excellence through access to proper technology.
She said that the university appreciates the value of social participation and is keen on building bridges with the society's institutions to strengthen mutual cooperation. – TradeArabia News Service
