Getex opens with over 75 varsities taking part

Getex Autumn 2009, the education show offering students access to universities enrolling students for early 2010, has opened in Dubai with more than 75 international universities offering a diverse range of in-demand academic programs to GCC students.
The Dubai leg of Getex Autumn will run until October 29, while the second leg will be held at the Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel in ahrain from October 31 to November 2.
More than 350 academic programs from leading academic institutions and training centres around the world will be presented during the two-part education fair.
The event will also feature a series of seminars and interactive counselling sessions that are designed to help students identify the best career path and academic options available for them at the event.
'The demand for world-class academic programs has increased dramatically over the years primarily because of greater accessibility to prestigious universities and training centres all over the world. Getex Autumn has played a major role in the ongoing trend by creating awareness and opening a convenient gateway for GCC students to enrol in world-class educational institutions,' said Anselm Godinho, managing director, International Conferences & Exhibitions (IC&E), organisers of the event.
More than 7,000 participants are expected to attend Getex Autumn, while a variety of academic and vocational courses, scholarships, counselling sessions, seminars and workshops have been lined up for the event.
The topics covered by the special seminars and counselling sessions include 'Advantages and disadvantages of enrolling in the Spring term'; 'Advantages of studying in the UAE'; 'Securing admission in institutions abroad'; 'Financial planning to realise educational goals'; 'Importance of internships'; and 'Understanding individual potential'.
Getex Autumn also offers advice on rules and regulations for those who want to study in the UK, Canada, USA, Australia and other countries.
The event is complemented by the Excellence in Engineering Forum in addition to the student counselling sessions. Excellence in Engineering Forum gathers graduating engineers and technical students who will interact and discuss career challenges and opportunities with experienced industry professionals, decision-makers and recruiting firms.-TradeArabia News Service
