DED hosts SP Jain student delegation

The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) hosted a group of Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) graduates from the S P Jain Center of Management, Dubai-Singapore, to introduce them to sector-specific research programs in logistics.

The 12-member student group was led by Dr Dhrupad Mathur, director of the Industry Interface Program for S P Jain.

“This initiative is part of DED’s sustained efforts to undertake concerted approaches for developing the logistics sector, which is one of the key players for future growth and improvement, and also to supporting the development of skilled resources for the future,” said Sami Al Qamzi, director general of the Department of Economic Development.

The visiting delegation and DED members exchanged views on how to enhance the quality standards of the logistics industry. A number of issues related to developing the logistics industry and ways to raise the standard of those working in the field were addressed during the meeting.

“The need for building relationships with key education providers is an important aspect to ensure education and industry requirements meets the skill gaps in the sector,” said David Harris, director for Logistics of the Foreign Investment Office, an agency of the DED.

“DED will initiate proactive measures to interact with those concerned in the logistics industry to enhance business efficiency,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
