Sharjah Institute of Tech to operate under SCCI
Sharjah, May 20, 2009
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has announced that Sharjah Institute of Technology (SIT) will now operate under the umbrella of the Chamber.
The move complements SCCI’s commitment to promoting investment opportunities and developing human capabilities that support sustainable development in Sharjah and the UAE in general.
The Chamber will be cooperating with its strategic partners to promote SIT as an important platform to enhance the vocational and technical education of individuals and support them in contributing to the development of the business community. The SCCI also intends to prepare specialised courses in line with new trends in the business sector.
“We are keen to provide the institute with the available facilities and help it to utilize the services and activities provided by the other subsidiary institutions including Expo Center Sharjah; Sharjah Training and Development Center; Sharjah BusinessWomen Council and others,” said Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfaa, SCCI chairman.
“We shall tap our expertise and our educational and training programs to enhance the quality of human resources and provide vocational education for all the scientific sectors, including medicine, engineering, art and economics,” added Malcolm Pickering, director, SIT.
The Sharjah Institute of Technology was established in September 2003 to provide an opportunity to youngsters to pursue their studies in various disciplines.
